Conapt Level 2 — Route, Secret & World Record

Conapt04 (the demo's Level 2) is the community's speedrun favourite — compact, contested routes, and a secret on the final stretch. Here's what you need to run it clean.

Why Conapt Level 2 Is the Community Favourite

Of the demo's seven Conapt-stage levels, Conapt04 (Level 2) is the one the speedrunning community has focused on. The reasons are simple:

  • It's compact — a run is short enough to grind, long enough to route.
  • The route is contested — there are real alternatives at every obstacle, so the world-record line is still being figured out.
  • The secret is on the final stretch, so a 100% run requires committing to a route that doesn't sacrifice the last 20%.
  • It teaches the Conapt archetype — the layout pattern that repeats across the demo's main path. Mastering Level 2 is the foundation for running the others cleanly.

Conapt04 Secret Location

Continue through Conapt04 as usual. Near the end of the level, the secret is in the area shown in the standard screenshot — don't miss it on the final stretch. The level-select menu's secret indicator (bottom-right of the thumbnail) will tell you if you missed it.

Recommended Route (Beginner → Intermediate)

This is the standard line used by intermediate Conapt runners — the one a top ghost will show you. For the actual world-record line, see the notes below.

  1. Opening slope — full sprint down. Don't jump early.
  2. First wall — bounce off, jump away. Don't commit to a long wall-run.
  3. Slide setup — drop into a slide on the next platform. The slide is mandatory for the next gap.
  4. Second wall + jump pad — wall-run triggers acceleration, then jump pad for vertical lift. Watch the angle; hitting the pad from the side saves 0.1s over hitting it head-on.
  5. Final stretch — straight-line to the secret. Don't deviate for the secret unless you're 100% on the line; the WR attempts usually skip it for the time, then come back to grab it on a separate run.

World Record Notes

The active world-record line uses several non-obvious optimizations:

  • Two-wall chain before the slide setup to skip the platform entirely.
  • Jump pad from a side angle to maintain forward momentum through the lift.
  • Cliff-climb recovery route on the final stretch — used when the standard line overshoots the secret and costs time.

Don't memorise these. Load a top ghost and follow it — that's faster than reading a list of moves.

Recommended Loadout (Settings, Not Gear)

VHOLUME has no character loadout, but the settings loadout matters for Conapt runs:

  • Anti-aliasing — Off TSR. See the Beginner Guide performance section.
  • Jump bind — Mouse wheel (for keyboard users) — see the same guide.
  • Controller — fine for practice, but most top runs are on keyboard for the camera precision on the final stretch.
