Quick Answer
VHOLUME does not ship with built-in online matchmaking, local split-screen, or a dedicated co-op campaign. The game is designed as a single-player first-person parkour experience where you chase target times, race ghost runs, and break the Ministry's labyrinth on your own.
That said, you can still share the experience with a friend using Steam's built-in Remote Play Together feature or third-party streaming tools. It isn't in-game multiplayer, but it works — and it's free. Details below.
Current Multiplayer Status (as of August 2026)
| Feature | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Online matchmaking | Not available | No public lobbies or ranked play |
| Local split-screen | Not available | No couch co-op |
| LAN / private server | Not available | No official server browser |
| Ghost / time-trial racing | Available | Beat ghost runs from leaderboards; async, not live |
| Remote Play Together | Works | Share your screen via Steam; friend watches + directs |
If you came here hoping for live co-op, the honest takeaway is: the game is a solo journey, but the community has found ways to make it social.
Official Statement on Multiplayer
The developers — the three-person team behind Straftat and BABBDI — have described VHOLUME's fantasy as a lonely bureaucratic odyssey through a brutalist megacity. Marketing copy has mentioned "race friends in real-time" style ghost competition, which points to asynchronous ghost racing rather than live co-op.
Think of it as competing with your friends' best times, not against their live avatars.
For the most current word, watch the Steam Community Hub and the studio's social channels — we'll update this page the moment an official co-op mode is announced.
Workarounds for "Playing Together"
None of these are true in-engine multiplayer, but all three let you share the run with someone else tonight:
1. Steam Remote Play Together (easiest, free)
- Launch VHOLUME from your Steam library.
- Open the Steam overlay (Shift+Tab) → Remote Play Together → invite a friend.
- Your friend sees your screen and can take control or just watch and call out routes.
- Best for: coaching a friend through a tricky section, or racing the same route back-to-back.
2. Discord / Steam screen-share
- Start a Discord call, share your game window.
- Friend watches and suggests shortcuts live — great for "let's both try for a faster time" sessions.
- No control hand-off, but zero setup and works cross-platform.
3. Parsec (lowest latency, controller hand-off)
- Parsec lets a friend take the controller over the internet with very low input lag.
- Ideal for local-style co-op feel without being in the same room.
- Free tier covers 1 guest; both sides need a Parsec account.
Will Multiplayer Be Added?
As of August 2026, the studio has not confirmed a dedicated co-op or online mode for VHOLUME. Given the team's history with Straftat (a live multiplayer FPS), the demand is loud on the Steam forums — but nothing is on the official roadmap yet.
Our recommendation: enjoy the ghost-racing loop now, and if co-op is a dealbreaker, check our Similar Games page for parkour titles with native multiplayer.
FAQ
Is there a squad / team mode?
No. VHOLUME has no squad, party, or team system.
Is there PvP?
No live PvP. The only "versus" element is beating other players' ghost times on leaderboards.
Does it support cross-platform play?
VHOLUME is currently Steam (Windows) only, so cross-platform play isn't applicable yet.
Can my friend join my run directly?
Not in-engine. Use Remote Play Together (above) to share your session instead.
